Ex Pats deserve more

We at Affinity Radio know what  like to live away from friends and family. Those who live abroad and who don't often visit the Old Country are hardest hit. We allow friends and family a link via music to keep pals and relations in contact. Our internet based radio stations Dedication facility puts the listener right here in the studio. Music and dedications via the radio around the world brings something special to each other. Go on give us a try.
Cheers
Dave

It's News to me

Affinity Radio now has on the hour world news provided by FSN. We alternate with a 3 minute news bulletin and a 30 second headlines feed every two hours. A "weekend roundup" is broadcast on the weekend. This facility has been requested by our listeners. We hope this added content will improve the experience we at Affinity Radio provide to our listeners world wide.

Thanks for your valued feedback.

Computers fight back

What a week, had to go to Aberdeen this week (all week). Gota new HTC Desire S on Sunday, thing was not connected for a whole week! Work laptop kept loosing wireless signal at work, and to top it all no broadband when I got home....technology fights back. Broadband was fixed today and stupid me decided to upload my broadband's own security software, which promptly prevented all browsers and my radio software from working. System restore and re loading my trusty AVG sorted it out although another hour of my day gone.

Just getting ready for www.affinityradio.net "Disco Nights" show this Saturday Evening from 8 pm till late.

Fingers crossed everything works.

Website Wonders

Well what a week. Redesigned our internet radio station's website, I had been putting it off for ages. Finally got the courage to sort it out. You can find it at http://www.affinityradio.net/, let me know what you think please. Still things to du but time is a cruel mistress and my time is full at the moment. Listeners are up which is good despite some confusion with another new station from Cambridge with the same name!!!

Big competitions on over the bank holiday so listen to win....lol

Programmer...Mois!

I remember in the early 80's buying a Commadore 64 and attempted a bit of programmimg. After about 5 pages of script I managed to make a simple tank thing that moved around the screen and when you tapped the space bar, it fired a shell which exploded off screen!

Recently I have been delving into the wonders of Microsoft Excel and the dark and mysterious world of the Macro. Not quite as exciting as a shell firing tank but, for me equally challenging.

Since we started our Internet Radio Station, Affinity Radio in August last year we have upgraded our broadcast software to SAM Broadcaster which suits us at present. Its got a lot of great tools, one being the ability to use PAL, yes its more programming! PAL stands for "Play list Automation Language" and its great. Have you ever listened to the FM stations like Heart, Magic, Capitol Gold etc, they all use this. Well this then takes us on a circular route back to those heady days in 1983!!! Funnily enough we have an 80's music show on Friday evenings from 8 till 11 pm UK time, so you can check out the fruits of my PAL wizardry, well maybe, maybe not.Keep on Rockin'

Easter Monday

Well its a fine Monday here in Studio 1, more cataloging of tracks....does  it never end!!!! Been up since 6am doing this stuff, things we do to keep legal. Moving to Studio 2 as its BBQ time and the Old Gits first programme so that will be fun. Thanks to Julie for doing food and Joy for putting up with us.

We are discussing a new logo for the station amongst other things, plus there may be some beer involved along the way so its not all bad.

Ray is busy in Studio 2 managing todays playlist.

New things happening on www.affinityradio.net in April 2011

Hi folks,
Well Ray and I have been working very hard on a number of improvements to the station. Our Dedication system, introduced over a month ago is working well with listeners saying how easy it is to use. Week commencing Monday 18th March brings some new evening programming which means we have the following new programmes:
Monday’s – The Sound of the Seventies 8.00pm – 11.00pm
Tuesday’s – Remember This Golden Classic (60’s pop) 8.00pm – 11.00pm
Friday’s – Great Eighties (a cocktail of 80’s hits)
This means that we now have a “hosted” show every night of the week so check out our website for details, make sure you hit that “refresh” button on your browser often.
Best wished to all our listeners.
